This is a question I get asked often and it's a good question.

Shamanic Energy Medicine is a transformative alternative practice that aids in letting go of past traumas, beliefs, energy blockages, and everyday challenges. These traumas and blockages may originate from this life, past lives, or even be passed down through generations. Such stagnant and intrusive energies can prevent us from reaching our full potential.

What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is the most ancient spiritual practice worldwide, with origins stretching back thousands of years. In this tradition, Shamans or Medicine people communicate with spirit guides to heal, guide, and influence the physical world. In their native communities, Shamans serve as spiritual healers, guides for the departed, and they maintain a sacred connection with nature. Shamans utilize techniques they have learned and practiced to enter and navigate altered states of consciousness. Shamans also lead ceremonies and rituals within their community. Many cultures still practice Shamanism today. While traditional Shamanism persists in these cultures, a new modern Shamanism has also emerged. This new Shamanic practice enables Shamanism to be studied and practiced by people outside these indigenous communities and allowing it to adapt to our modern lifestyles.

Are you a Shaman?

Personally, I don't "identify" as a Shaman. I consider myself a Shamanic Practitioner. What's the difference? A Shaman typically serves as a spiritual leader within their community and is often referred to as a medicine man or woman. A Shaman is someone who has mastered the techniques utilized in their practice, for the highest good of their community. I believe Shamans shouldn't call themselves Shamans. I believe they are called to be Shamans by their spirit guides, community, or both. Being a Shaman is considered a sacred title, one I do not take lightly. A Shamanic Practitioner is someone who actively engages in Shamanism. To me, this means that a Shamanic Practitioner opts to learn and apply the techniques and ceremonies similar to those of a Shaman, either for their personal development, to aid their clients, or both. Shamanic Practitioners within our modern world, living in cities and towns, typically learn and practice these techniques from a lineage that may or may not be their own. For example, I have learned and follow the lineage passed down from the Q'ero people from the Andes in South America, however, I do not, to my knowledge, have ancestors from this region.

What to expect from a Shamanic session?

Every session is distinct and customized for each person. Typically, the client will be lying down and, after taking a few deep breaths, may enter a deep, dream-like state or a realm of active imagination. The sessions may include dialogue, stones, rattling, humming, or feathers. The experience varies for each individual. Some people have told me they didn't feel anything during the session, while others encounter a blend of images, colors, thoughts, or emotions. Some may notice changes a few days later or have epiphanies within the following week or two. Most commonly, my clients report feeling a greater sense of clarity.

Is Shamanic Energy Medicine right for me?
